The Father Of Indonesian Comics


Raden Ahmad Kosasih



    Raden Ahmad Kosasih (born in Bogor, West Java, 4 April 1919 - died in Tangerang, Banten, July 24, 2012 at the age of 93 years) is a writer and famous comic draftsman of Indonesia. Generation of comics today considered as the father of Indonesian Comics.

Genre
     His works are mainly associated with Hindu literature (Ramayana and Mahabharata) and traditional Indonesian literature, especially of Javanese and Sundanese literature. Besides, he also drew some comics that have the effect of Chinese martial arts, but not too much. Kosasih began drawing in 1953. His work mainly is drawing sketches in black and white without using color. He began to stop and retired in 1993.

Early Career
    Kosasih began his career at the publisher "melodi" in Bandung. But his works are well-known published by Maranatha. 
RePublishing
    Lately in the decade of the 1990s his works republished by Elex Media Komputindo and publisher Paramita in Surabaya. Kosasih died at the age of 93 years.

"Sri Asih" (1950) can be regarded as the first superhero Indonesia.
